After Death Communication, or ADC

In June of 2009 my elderly mother committed suicide. I never expected this event to take me on a wild paranormal, metaphysical journey. Similar things happened to me as a child when my grandparents' generation died off so it really shouldn't have shocked me, but it did!

Over time I began to feel that these experiences would be wasted if I never shared them with anyone else. So I decided to start a blog about my ongoing contact with my mother and the things she tells me about life "on the other side". These experiences were, and are, very healing for me. I hope that they will be encouraging, comforting, or at least intellectually stimulating for my readers.

This ability runs in my family. My mother had similar experiences. She was the one who helped me make sense of them - now she is the one causing them! Both of my grandmothers could do this, as well as my father, my brothers, and my sister.

Lucid Dreaming

In a nutshell, Lucid Dreaming is a dream where you are aware that you are dreaming.  I have been able to do this my entire life.  I can remember lucid dreams that I had while still sleeping in my crib!  I don't remember how old I was when they took the crib down, but I know it was long gone by the time I was three.

There are degrees of lucidity.  Sometimes I am 100% aware that I am dreaming and I can decide how I want to interact with the dream imagery.  Other times I am only partially lucid - aware that I am dreaming but emotionally invested in the dream too much to pull back and really be completely lucid.

When I see a dead person I immediately become lucid.  It is one of the "dreamsigns" that, as a child, I believe taught me to lucid dream.  Other dreamsigns include:

Finding oneself in a place that no longer exists.
Looking a clock, looking away briefly, and looking again - and seeing two totally different times.
Reading text that morphs and changes as you read it.
Flying.
Weird lights in the sky.
Things happening that are "impossible" in physical reality.

Lucid dreaming has been studied in sleep laboratories for over 20 years.  Some of the earliest research took place at Standford University by Dr. Stephen LeBerge.  I remember reading about this in Junior High - back in the day when I realized that this stuff didn't happen to my friends, so I went to the library trying to find out more about it.

Now, of course, there is a weath of information about this topic on the internet and may books available.  Here are just a few for those who would like to learn more.  Research shows that anyone can learn to do this!
